9/11 - 120 Minute Film Documentary (Blog #3)

9/11 Film
This documentary is about the terrorist attacks that happened on September 11th, 2001. However, the documentary was suppose to be about a young man, trying to make his name in a New York fire department. This documentary was shot by two brothers by the name of  Jules and Gedeon and the brothers followed this rookie on his journey to become a man. While they were shooting this documentary, the terrorist attacks happened and priorities shifted.

The documentary now became about the horrific nightmare that happened that day. They used all raw footage of the terror and documented almost every horror scene. From the collision of the airplanes and building, to the collapse of the towers, and then to the streets which were covered in dust and smoke. I loved how everything was captured by hand because it gave realism to the story. Nothing can be taken away from what they shot, it truly was magnificent and amazing. They were in the action like they were one of the fire fighters and they were fearless. Once you thought they would at least try to escape the danger, they just kept going closer towards it. They showed dramatizing scenes of the city being covered in dust, the towers collapsing and the dead bodies of some fire fighters.

The Horific scene of the towers being attacked
The only thing I didn't like too much about this documentary was it became more about the two brothers who were shooting this documentary. They were both at different locations so during a good portion of the film, they would be talking about finding each other and thinking the other was dead. That is effective but they did it for too long. They first mentioned it in the beginning, and dragged it all the way until the end. I just thought it took a little bit away of what was really going on, which was the attacks. However, overall it was great and I definitely recommend this documentary to everyone because they all need to see history that changed the world forever.

Marketplace: Superbugs in the Supermarket- MAGAZINE DOC (Blog #3)

Super Bugs (Bacteria)

This magazine doc is about the chicken we put into our bodies on a daily basis. It is scary with the studies they come up with in this documentary. Supposedly there are super bugs in almost every chicken we buy, and those super bugs are antibiotic resistant; meaning even if we use antibiotics to kill the bacteria, it will not work. This is scary especially for me because I am a huge chicken lover and i eat chicken pretty much every single day of the week!

This documentary was very effective in it's execution. They had many interviews with different types of people. They had two guests who were effected with food poisoning from the bacteria found in chicken. 1 of them came very close to death. The other guest was a chicken farm owner who produces all the chicken to the supermarkets, and once the host showed him the studies of his chicken and how it's filled with different types of bacteria which was also antibiotic resistant, he froze and didn't know what to say! Another great guest was a man who buys organic chicken, thinking hes feeding his family healthy and bacteria free chicken. Ends up there are 3 different types of bacteria in his chicken that are also antibiotic resistant. He also froze and didn't know what to say. The man was in shock because all these years he's thinking that hes feeding his family great healthy chicken, only to find out it's almost as bad as regular chicken!

This documentary was overall very well done, and it definitely raised awareness of the chicken we put in our bodies. It also gave a heads up to all those companies that they need to find better and smarter ways to produce their chicken without getting anyone sick.

Mark Cuban is a Billionaire!

Beyond The Glory: Mark Cuban - TV DOC (Blog #3)

This documentary is about a billionaire and the owner of the Dallas Mavericks (NBA team). It crosses many subjects; like his childhood, how he got rich, and his NBA team. I enjoyed learning about him because I have always seen him on TV when i watch basketball games and he seems to be more of a fan than a billionaire. You would never think this man was as rich as he is, from the way he dresses, to his actions on the sidelines.

I enjoyed learning about his childhood and how he reached billionaire status. It was interesting to see his childhood friends and family say since he was a kid, he always tried to find ways to make money. It's amazing to see someone who is a billionaire, start at such a young age to attempt to make any money. I know when i was a kid, I didn't even know what money was, nor did i care for it.

Mark Cuban is known for his passion on the sidelines!
The only thing I didn't like too much was they mentioned how he was a drop out and he never really was interested in school. Which is fine, but i think they dragged that on for too long which I think would give a young viewer the impression; who needs school, i can be a billionaire just like this guy! Without realizing that to be a billionaire, first off you need luck on your side. Mark Cuban didn't get to where he was without luck. Another thing is, yeah you may not need to school to become successful, but those people who do become successful, have something about them that most don't.

Overall, it was a fun documentary to watch, and i definitely recommend it to any basketball fan even though they touched upon more of his business than the actual NBA team.
